Dragons of Despair (Dl1)
Published in Paperback by TSR Hobbies (April, 1984)
Author: Tracy Hickman
Average review score:

Lavish introduction to the Dragonlance Saga
The DL series was a huge leap forward for TSR - these modules featured a new emphasis on drama and storytelling that made the gaming MUCH more fun and involved for the PCs and the DM. Of course, at heart, being TSR modules from the 80s, they're still dungeon crawls! In this chapter, the heroes must come to grips with a grim new world where dragons no longer exist, gold is worthless, and the gods themselves have forsaken mortals, and clerics are powerless... a classic of dark adventure for levels 4-6.

Average review score:

A great overview for kids AND adults
I was very pleasantly surprised by this book. As a teacher I thought I had a pretty good grasp of world religions. This book enlightened me even more. Easy to read without being condescending or patronizing. Excellent photos and graphics throughout. And it covers a broad range of religions from all over the world, even some that are no longer being practiced. Every page has internet links where you can research more information. A worthwhile purchase!

Fallen Angels
Published in Paperback by Warner Books (May, 2003)
Author: Patricia Hickman
Average review score:

entertaining historical fiction
During the Depression in Arkansas, their mother deserted the three kids several years ago and now their father dumps the children on his girlfriend "Aunt" Lana to unload them on their older married sister. However, Lana abandons thirteen year old Angel and her two younger siblings Willie and Ida May in a movie theater. Angel tries to hitch a ride with a trucker who deposits them on a traveling retired schoolteacher. Instead of taking the children to their older sister, the teacher ditches them in a remote area while stealing their possessions.

The trucker Jeb Nubey stops nearby and the kids sneak into his truck. When the law stops him, the children pretend to be his family. Already on the lam for an alleged attempted murder in Texarkana, Jeb takes the children to their adult sibling only to find her home deserted. Jeb soon pretends to be a widowed preacher raising the trio by himself. However, it is Angel who tries to turn this pretend quartet into a real family.

This is an entertaining historical fiction that paints a disturbing picture of the Depression via the treatment of the three Welby children by family and others. Still through the actions of Angel, forced into maturity beyond her years, hope exists even for this downtrodden group. The characters make the tale as the FALLEN ANGELS will hook readers with their plight.

Hickman's Analog and Rf Circuits
Published in Paperback by Newnes (April, 1998)
Author: Ian Hickman
Average review score:

An excellent work, weaving theory and practice well.
Ian Hickman presents readers with a number of short articles which deal with difficult and important areas of the art of analog and RF electronics. He succeeds in doing this using an elegant illustrative style of writing, with lots of useful diagrams and illustrations of test data. The book has sections dealing with general analog, audio and RF circuits and is well rounded with a section covering basic principles.

A practical treatise that will inspire adventures in the electronics lab for both seasoned expert and novice alike. Excellent for reference also.

The Journey Within: Past Life & Channeling
Published in Paperback by New Leaf Distributors (May, 1993)
Authors: Irene Hickman and Henry L. Bolduc
Average review score:

Incredible insights on reincarnation and soul progression.
This book is much more than a book on past life regression. It contains wisdom far beyond the "norm" in regards to our souls purpose here on earth. Meet the Eternals who, channeling through a willing person, tell us how to grow and improve ourselves both outwardly and most importantly, within. Learn how we reincarnate and why. I have met the author, and have spoken to others who know him well, and I believe whole heartedly in the truth and validity of the contents of this book. It "blows me away". Henry Bolduc also includes in his book instructions and script for making your own self hypnosis tape for past life regression. If you want to know more about who you really are, this is the book for you.

Kaplan High School Handbook

I was fortunate to have found this!
I was indeed very shocked to discover that this book had gone out of print - since it has become so useful during my high school career. Perhaps they're making a new version that's up to date :-) I did find this book extremely useful in planning out activities for high school. This book was intended for students who are very ambitious and motivated to graduate at the top of their class and get into the college they want! If it has any flaws, I would have to say that the book contains so much information for one person to handle. For instance, it lists many independent studies available for high school students which include college consortiums with Harvard, Columbia, and Johns Hopkins.(including the specific URL on the internet sites)It contains a wealth of information about who to contact regarding summer abroad opportunities, volunteer opportunities, and organizations that provide scholarship money. It's basically everything an ambitious student needs to have a worthwhile high school experience in one package. Furthermore, I like how the author is also realistic and points out that while there are many who can be super students and over-achievers, this is not necessarily the straight ticket to Harvard (the book gives you a great start though!).

The Last Paradise

Average review score:

It helps you to understand Balinese better.
Amazon com. found this book quickly, it'd been out of stock although. When the book was delivered to me, it was second hand with a signature@"Mrs.xxxx in Bali in 1933." As a person making a private research on the art movement in Bali in 1920th, this book is truely great and gives me a lot of rare info about that time. It's not difficult for anyone having been to Bali, to understand the story.
